The Sun has used up all of its remaining fuel, the only
way to for it to survive is to seek out more fuel further into the solar system.
Meanwhile on Earth, people are playing out their daily lives, oblivious to the
that it is their last perfect day before the sun begins to draw nearer and the
earth starts to get hotter! In the
final days of its existence the Earth seeks forgiveness as the relentless sun
draws closer still and ultimately destroys the planet with all the remaining
inhabitants who were either too poor or too naive to escape. Alien inferences
and computer malfunctions finally give way to an eerie silence, the earth is no
more!
After Consuming the Earth, the sun
continues to spread its destruction, absorbing all the other planets in the
solar system until there is no fuel left to burn. The sun then starts to fade
away until all that is left is a desolate Red Star which eventually meets its
fate as a black hole..
Some of the remaining matter from the dead sun spews out
of the black hole and back into the abyss of space in search of a new home in
which to create a fresh solar system; thus the cycle begins once more.
This piece is about the exploration
of space and is intended as a sequel to Red Giant. It
is influenced by the celestial bodies that orbit the earth and
neighbouring planets. This track can be viewed in two halves. The first half
starts with a simple melodic piano riff with pleasing harmonisations. In the
second half the piano changes key and is slowly followed by additional melodic
counterpoint from other instruments.
This composition was inspired
by the Apollo 11 moon landings. In the middle of completing this composition
there was sad news of the Columbia shuttle crash. I dedicate this piece to those
astronauts who lost their lives
and
to the achievements man has made in space travel. I used a repetitive melodic
line throughout the track adding embellishments as the piece progresses.
This
was my first attempt
at writing electronic music. The
composition is based around two main riffs. In this track I created a menacing
atmosphere by using a Diminished 5th interval in the main theme.
